FAQs
As a professional Counsellor and Psychotherapist, I am committed to ethical practice. I am on the voluntary register of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and follow their guidelines on confidentiality.
Registration with the BACP requires adherence to their ethical framework.
There is no typical time for a person to be in counselling, this depends on the issues brought and the pace
that each person works.
I offer weekly sessions for both long term and short term counselling until you are ready to finish the
sessions. I offer regular reviews to ensure we are both satisfied with the work we are doing.
It is difficult to answer this question as everyone is different. I do believe though that counselling is effective
and can really help people to work through their worries if they are ready to do so. No-one can make another person have counselling as this is unlikely to work.
This will be a chance for us to get a sense of each other and for you to decide if I am the right counsellor for you.
I will take some details to find out more about you and to assess how best to support you as well as to explain how I work.
We will build a contract together to include all aspects of the counselling, to help you feel safe.
It is normal to feel anxious about this first session but seeking help for your well-being is the first step and shows true courage.
